Posted March 14th, 2008 by valderama
The main idea of CaptainCook is to create an interactive cooking assistant which helps you to learn how to cook by doing practical cooking. It can also be seen as a digital cookbook, which extends the possibilities of written paper by multimedia components on the one hand, and on the other hand tries to teach the user how to cook.
It features
- An audio instructions, controlled via an audio player
- A built-in Eggtimer
- Overall Statusbar
- Ingridients Checklist
- Integrated Cooking Hints

This Flash-based application was realized for the course "Biomedical Analysis" at FH JOANNEUM. They needed an application, which allows the students to practice at the microscope independently. I was responsible for the implementation in Flash.
The content is managed via an XML - File, which can be viewed here: content.xml
Here is the project description made by ZML (Centre of Multimedial Learning of FH Joanneum).
